Only I now only have three of the rivet centerpieces. So I resigned myself to keeping the license plate holder on the vehicle. Possible a grommet or something would make it possible for the bumper plugs to fit, but I don't exactly have those handy. They would just fall right out if I put them in there. Damn damn damn! Plus the rivet couldn't be cut. I thought maybe I could cut the rivet with some angle pliers since they're plastic.and I gouged the paint a little. So I pushed them as far as I could and then pulled on the holder to try and get a look behind it. The bottom turns out there's some kind of foam or something about 1/8" behind the bottom holes, preventing you from being able to push the rivets all the way out. The top two were easy enough once I found something narrow enough to push through the hole. You have to push the middle of the rivet out from the front, and then the holder is supposed to come off. I ordered a set, and got them this weekend.įirst of all, getting the license plate holder off is a PITA.

I was hoping that the plugs from would fit. Pre-installed, which means the bumper cover has already been drilled. Guess what my VW ID.4 came with? A front license plate holder. I live in one of the 19 states that doesn't require a front license plate.
